In that space between waking and rising, what do you see, hear, and think? Without opening your eyes, you can see images of what was and what will be. Without completely opening your ears, you can hear life moving within you through your breath and the movement in your belly – you can hear your body wake up. Without controlling your thoughts, you can hear the voices of your ancestors and all of your inner chatter competing for room to be. You can hear your own voice if you listen closely.

What will your day bring your way? By the time you rise, you will have assessed your bodily functions, decided what your day will look and feel like, know what you need to do next, and the voices will have been diminished so you can think more clearly. All within the space of a few minutes. Imagine what you could do if you took time to employ all of your senses more meaningfully in your morning? What difference would it make? Choose to lounge for just a little longer to ask quality questions and ferret out a few answers to problems and solutions to your inner dilemmas. Go ahead… your day will wait just a few minutes more.
